Fire Permits

A fire permit is required by property owners for private property.  A permit can be received from the Bay St. Louis Fire Station #1 at (228) 467-4736.  

All fires should have a water source available near the fire and must be out by dark, except beach bonfires.  Fires must be supervised at all times and never left unattended.  

Class I  

Leaves, trimmings and limbs.  Pile not to exceed 6 feet in diameter and 4 feet in height.  

Class II

Building debris and lot clearing.  This must be inspected and approved by the BSL Fire Department.  No hazardous materials may be burned.  The pile may not exceed 6 feet in diameter or height. 

Class III

 Beach Bonfires.  This is processed through Hancock County.  Please call the Hancock County Code Office at (228) 467-4157. 

Outdoor Fireplaces, Fire Pits and Chimeneas

Permits are not required for small personal fires using outdoor fireplaces, fire pits and chimeneas.  Fire pits should have a brick, stone or other boarder as parameter to contain the fire.
